Getting there (the vacation spot) is always half the fun of going on vacation. You never know what you might see or do. I found an
interactive map that highlights the stops you can make on your way down I-65 through Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. Here are some things we saw on the way to Florida. One of these (future) Florida vacations we are going to have to stop at the
Corvette museum in Bowling Green, KY but we are always in a hurry to either get to Florida or to get back home. One of these days...
Somewhere in Tennessee we were desperate to get gas for the van so we had to stop at the first exit we could. There happened to be a big chicken (or is it a rooster..dunno. I did not grow up on a farm) at the gas station. You can see just how big by the size of the SUV in the background.
We stopped at the Alabama visitors welcome center on I-65 south (first exit in Alabama) where they have the
Saturn 1B rocket and some war memorials including the
Vietnam War Memorial listing the Alabama war casualties.

There was an cardboard astronaut (that space food must not be very nutritious) in the welcome center.

Alabama is always a tough state to drive through since it's so tall (365 miles) and you have to go all the way though it to get to the Florida panhandle. Logan is pointing to Panama City Beach on the map. The red dot at the top is where we are.
We stopped in Bowling Green KY to get some breakfast and let Monica and Logan stretch their legs a bit in the play area.
